Low-growing, tufted plant, 20cm-1m high x 30cm-2.5m wide. Strap-like leaves compressed into fans. Summer flowers vary between light and dark blue or mauve and its bird-attracting fruits are a rich translucent purple or cobalt. Moist, well-drained soil, adapting and hardy to most conditions. Apply mulch and keep well-watered in dry periods.
