Tall tree to 35m high. Named for the greasy feel of its wood when cut. Dense crown and low-branching fibrous bark. Small white flowers. Moist well-drained soil in full sun. Good shade and shelterbelt tree. Grown for timber and honey production. Food tree for Koalas.
