Large, fast-growing handsome tree, 8-20m tall x 6-8m wide. Spreading habit. Fragrant dark red wood. Leaves turn yellow in winter and drop but new pink shoots soon appear. Small white fragrant flowers from late spring. Moist, well-drained soil in full sun, protected from wind. Frost hardy when established.
